For internet entrepreneurs, the most likely resolution is to quit procrastinating in the quest to build a viable business or perhaps, the next multi-million venture. In [Chapter 9] of this book I highlighted how aspiring entrepreneurs pursuit of becoming a successful internet entrepreneurs. For you to turn your idea into a business and become a successful internet entrepreneur you need to;
Start small. We all have heard that the journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step, but it is arguably the first step to making it big. You can start with small goals like creating a business plan and registering your venture. Then, begin by rendering service to people around you first and continue from there. Most potential entrepreneurs seems to have a fear of starting small forgetting that quit a number of successful entrepreneurs like; Chief Olaide.k. Agbonyin CEO Olabim Events, Mark Zuckerberg, Linda Ikeji, Afeez Makinde (Mankind), Bamidele Onibalusi, Seun osewa, Toyin Omotosho, Oyedepo John and Gbolagbade Adetunji. Started from nothing, not forgetting Princess Adekemi inventor of Princess Adkem a fashion and modeling app. previously in [Chapter 9] you read up on those successful businessman and woman who are entrepreneurs and internet tycoons, who have built business empires literally from scratch. For you to convert that idea into a business, you need to know about the SECRET and PRINCIPLES
Get a mentor. A mentor will develop and guide you through challenges that will come your way. Even I myself revealing secret behind internet to you has a mentor who guides me. Mentors are usually free to access, yet vital to your business growth. More exclusively, your mentor will help wade off dream killers and ignorant people by being available to answer your enquiries professionally. They have their own successful enterprises and can share with you their failures, success and the potholes to watch out for.
Have a Positive attitude. These millionaires and billionaires all seem to have one thing in common; “A positive outlook” This is the essence of a successful entrepreneur. There will definitely be challenges and you need to be prepared for them. It is very important that you maintain the same positivity you started with. Be dogged in determination to beat all odds. Same as well the right attitude will also help you act on ideas instead of you down-playing them. Action! Should be imperative for you, alienate those chatting, Video chat, Whatsapp chat you do for fun to avoid distractions, so you can achieve big things and give the chance to paint out mental pictures (brainstorm) THINK IDEAS. “There is a time to play and a time to work” use your time wisely.
Be Passionate. You need to be passionate about how your choice of business, This I must tell you; my parent never want me to be in computer line of business because they thought anybody doing computer business or being an internet entrepreneur are all cyber criminals. But being a cyber criminal was not my choice, I was passionate about becoming an internet entrepreneur. F or you being passionate will drive you succeeding. But first, be sure you have chosen to do something you love. You read a short story about me in [Chapter 1] “you can’t do it without being passionate” it all start with heart. It is important you venture into a business that won’t feel like work to you but “soft work”. If you love to sew dress for instance, designing shouldn’t feel like work for you. Linda Ikeji - Nigerian based multi millionaire blogger in Lagos, Nigeria enjoyed blogging before it became profitable for her. She was passionate about blogging then profit comes her way. If you don’t enjoy that venture or business you are doing just bail yourself out of it and find something you are passionate about.
Double Hustle. It has to be nature for you. The fact is, there are hundreds of other people out there armed with that same “unique” idea of yours. You cannot afford to be slow in executing it. Strategize carefully and make your move fast, just go as far as you can.
Develop Yourself. Leading entrepreneurs invest in business and marketing magazine; they buy reports, newsletters journals and sector publications to increase their knowledge and understanding. You need to find time to attend business and marketing summits, workshops and training courses. This remind me of my boss; Chief director Olabim Events (Agbonyin K Olaide). As an entrepreneur, he cannot afford to stop learning, he always keep developing himself - Same as you need to work on yourself too.
Practice Discipline. For you to succeed, you need to deliberately discipline, regulate and motivate yourself to realize your desires. This entails setting out plans and following through without failing where you are not supposed to. “It takes hard work and will power”
Persevere. You need not to give up when things are slow for your business. You need to stay and continue trying to hit the mark, you cannot afford to quit in the face of challenges. You will encounter obstacles that will discourage you, but you must persist. If you have difficulties funding your business for instance remember that entrepreneurs before you have had deal with same issues and found a way around it. Figure out the situation with the “Rabbit Proof Fence” you just need to be open to new possibilities and seek alternatives measures if you must. “Money never stopped anyone from making it”
Become The Expert. It is vital to become an expert in your field of choice. What sets you apart is your deeper knowledge and understanding of that business. It makes you the number one choice for investors. Among the things that can help you gain this advantage is getting required trainings in your field. Everyone prefers to deal with an expert. So, get certified, if you are known as an expert in your business, more people will require your input and this will create referral opportunities for you.
