My view about life changed the day I heard this expression; "whoever is content with little is the richest". From that day on, I began to ponder on that statement and it took me few days to grasp the whole of the message embroidered in this short expression. It became my watchword so to speak. That day I found a new lease of life. It dawned on me that contentment is the key to happiness.
After ruminating on this expression, I discovered some important things that I think would be helpful to everyone whoever reads this:
1. Contentment Is The Key To Happiness
As I have already stated earlier in the introductory part of this write-up, being content helps you to be happy with the little you have. A happy life consists of tranquility of mind, no mind can be tranquil if it is disturbed by constant depression. To achieve a tranquil mind you have to content.
"Until You Make Peace With Who You Are, You'll Never Be Content With You Have" ~ Unknown
No matter how much wealth you amass or how accomplished you become if you lack contentment you would never be happy.
"A great obstacle to happiness is to anticipate too great a happiness." ~ Unknown
"Many people loose the small joys in the hope for the big happiness." ~ Pearl S. Buck
Contentment helps you realize how much you have, how many people you are better than and how much indebted you are to the Almighty Creator who has provided you with the luxuries currently at your disposal. Recognizing this helps you to be grateful at all times.
3. You Get More
A resultant effect of Contentment is Gratefulness as stated above, but being content also helps you to get more. Logically, contentment leads to happiness - a tranquil mind - when your mind is tranquil you'll be able to decide easily on key decisions in your life which helps you achieve even greater heights. Contentment helps you remain focused on your own goals and aspirations rather than being distracted by others people's achievements. When you concentrate on your job and you will forget your other troubles.
"Be thankful for what you have; you'll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don't have, you will never, ever have enough" ~ Oprah Winfrey
4. You Won't Always Get What You Want
Every man is rich or poor according to the proportion between his desires and his enjoyments. Contentment helps you realize this and as such, you won't get bothered if you fail to get what you desire!and you'll also be able to appreciate people who have it rather than loathing those people.
Men take only their needs into consideration never their abilities.
Patience is the key to Contentment. You'll never achieve Contentment without being patient. Great things come out of Patience.
"Have patience, my friend, have patience; For Rome wasn't built in a day! You wear yourself out for nothing In many and many a way! Why are you nervous and fretty When things do not move along fast; Why let yourself get excited Over things that will soon be passed?" ~ Gertrude Tooley
