We can call, text or email our friends, we can message them on Facebook or follow their Twitter feed. It only takes a minute to send a message to someone you care about, so try to do it every day! Keeping in touch with our friends keeps our personal social network strong. Scientific studies have shown over and over that people with a strong support network are healthier and happier. They are more likely to recover from serious illness, feel less stress, sleep better and may even catch fewer colds (not scientifically proven)! Having good friends can keep you healthy in other ways, too, if you have the kinds of friends who encourage you to live a healthy lifestyle. Everyone knows that having an exercise partner is great motivation, but even the feeling of encouragement and optimism your friends pass on can help you stick to your goals.
